Judith L. M. Beatty - Conductor
Judith Beatty is
a third year music student at Huddersfield University, using conducting
as her major performance in 2004/2006. During this time she has conducted
the university’s excellent orchestra and brass band (under the watchful
eye of Philip McCann), in both examination and concert conditions.
As a supposedly retired Trombone player she has recently played for the
York and Beverly early music festivals on sackbut, played Solo Trombone
for Meltham Mills Band including a contest at two weeks notice! However
her personal favourite was being invited to play in Gary Cutt’s
all-stars band with members of Grimethorpe, Fodens, YBS and many more….
Judith has a long association with Cawthorne Brass Band, and played for
the band as a youngster under the baton of Harold Lilford. Her biggest
influence being that of Iris Broadhead the Bass trombonist, whom Judith
still holds great affection for.
Judith was delighted in May 2006 to accept the offer to become conductor
of Cawthorne Brass Band. She has instantly encouraged the return of former
players, as well as revitalising the junior band. In fact since she took
over the junior band the numbers have increased from two to twelve in
three months…
